“I’m thankful for the overwhelming support our campaign has received from thousands of voters across the county,” Cronin said. “People are eager for our County Board to address the needs of our families in a cooperative, effective manner. As chairman, I will bring my experience and vision to the job of leading DuPage County.”
“We need to maintain our public safety, create more jobs and keep a lid on taxes,” Cronin continued. “We must improve our strained infrastructure and attend to the needs of a more diverse and aging population. DuPage County families are making tough decisions every day. Government must do the same. Keeping in mind what is best for the taxpayers while streamlining government services will guide my decision process.” Dan Cronin has served in the Illinois State Senate since 1993. His legislative accomplishments include implementing a cap on rising property taxes, preventing the Illinois income tax increase and halting the gross receipts tax that would have crippled DuPage businesses. As chairman of the Senate Education Committee in 1995, Cronin led the effort to approve the Chicago Public School reform act that required more accountability from students, teachers and administrators in one of the nation’s largest school systems. More recently, Cronin is a co-sponsor and leading advocate of the Collins Commission recommendations to bring ethics reform to Illinois government. “Despite the pressures of a national economic crisis and a state stymied by corruption and cronyism, I still believe that our best days are ahead,” concluded Cronin. “I’ve lived in DuPage County my entire life and believe in the values and tradition of strong, safe communities. I look forward to working with the county board and other elected officials to chart a new course for DuPage County.” |
